Review 8/27/2010
This company is horrible. All of the following employees -..No one there will give you their direct contact information or their supervisor when you ask for one. I truly wonder if they realize that they are the reason laws exist to protect consumers. I bought a car (from Nice Cars Of Nevada) who financed me through this company (Reliant Financial). The car price was $5300.00 and I wanted a two year warranty. Gave them $4000.00 cash towards the purchase. Well within the first week I am driving the car and it overheats but no movement in the heating gauge. Car gets towed to Nice Cars of Nevada. They say it is fixed; I pick it up and two days later on my way to a job interview the car overheats again and again no movement in the heating gauge. After waiting hours for the tow truck in 102 degrees the car gets towed back to Nice Cars of Nevada and they say the head is blown and now needs a new engine. This is not covered by the warranty and will cost me an additional $700.00 (OK whatever). Making my payments on time for the first 6 months of the agreement like clockwork. Then I get laid off. Keep making payments; sometimes a little late but never past 30 days. Within a day of payment due date Reliant financial start calling for the payment.... every time it is the same thing no we can't wait till Tuesday (this is when unemployment pays out) we need the payment by today. Well can't pay until Tuesday so that is when I pay them. No real problems until the unemployment extension bill is delayed and I have no money coming in. Paying them as much as I can but getting further behind. I am two months behind at one point and then pay up...Then I fall a month behind again and they are insisting on picking up the car because I can't give them a date when I will be able to pay(I can't give them a date because I don't know when the unemployment extension is going to pass). In the mean time the car starts overheating again and is not running. I finally agree, ok just pick up the car. Give the car back to them on 6/28/2010. During this time they ran trace on me and thought I had moved to Texas for some unknown reason. They then contacted my Mother(in a different state;because I had put her down as a reference in the very beginning of the financing process) Rep ask my Mother if she knew where I was and when my Mother said she had not spoken to me in a while. Rep then proceeded to question her and said "It must be terrible to not know where your daughter is or if she is safe or if something has happened to her" This is completely unscrupulous. A week later I get a call from Reliant who tells me the car sold for $400.00 at auction (what a joke, I was only behind $285 and only owed about $2,000.00) so now she wants to know if I want to make payments on the remaining balance at $150.00 a month (are you kidding me, I still don't have a job). So no correspondence or calls at all after that. Today I call because I need something in writing showing that I turned the car in for my insurance cancellation and the DMV. First I talk to Rep who puts me on hold and then Rep gets on the phone. Rep says "They do not want to give me anything in writing until I tell them what I need it for first" I say What does it matter what I need it for? She then becomes completely rude and tells me she doesn't have to give me anything in writing until I pay off the balance. I explained that I needed this for insurance and DMV purposes. They refused. I stated legally don't you have to give me something in writing when I have returned a car? Irene then got more belligerent (if that is even possible) and said she doesn't have to give me anything. She preceded to talk to me like a kid who got caught doing something wrong and was arguing with their parents. Then hung up while I was asking more specific questions. The people at Reliant need to be put on notice that although I may be unemployed that does not mean in anyway that I am uneducated or unaware of my rights.
