I have been a beta tester for Centercode (onlinebeta.com) for a number of years and for numerous beta tests. I have been able to test new products before they come to market or test improvements to those already for sale (V2.x, 3.x, etc.).
The reason (IMO) the person who submitted a negative review is likely due to an incorrect profile setup or issues with the beta sign up process. I have been passed over quite a few times as well, but since there are so many people wanting to get into a test it is very important to make sure that a submission for testing highlights your skills in a way that will make them WANT to choose you.
I absolutely LOVE Centercode and even though I don't sign up for each beta or get chosen for each beta I keep on watching the announcements and trying for those I feel are of interest to me.
